Thomas Agresta, MD, MBI
Thomas Agresta is the leader for Informatics. He is a practicing Physician, Professor and Director of Medical Informatics for Family Medicine and is responsible for the EHR used by the residency program. He is Co-Director for Health Informatics for the Connecticut Institute for Clinical and Translational Science (CICATS) at the University of Connecticut and has a particular interest in promoting “High-Tech, High Touch” primary care.
He has been active in the development of technology-enabled innovative education, research and primary care delivery models and has received funding for both educational and research grants focused on the optimal use of Health Information Technology (HIT).
Dr. Agresta received a degree in Biomedical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology, a medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and a Master’s degree in Biomedical Informatics from Oregon Health and Sciences University. He is board certified in Family Medicine and was in the inaugural class of board certified diplomats of the newly developed Clinical Informatics subspecialty. He serves in many leadership capacities, including on the Clinical Informatics Board Certification Exam Committee, the Maintenance of Certification Committee for Clinical Informatics as well many state level HIT advisory and leadership roles.
